Clayens NP strengthens its North American presence

Clayens NP strengthens its North American presence with the acquisition of Plasco,

a company specialising in the processing of technical polymers

The 7th march 2022

The Clayens Group has completed the acquisition of Plasco ($12m turnover), a Mexican company specialising in the processing of thermoset polymers for the electrical, rail and construction sectors.

Founded in 1981 in Mexico City and owned by José Octavio Lopes, Plasco specialises in the transformation of thermoset materials by compression and injection. With its historical know-how, the company, which is growing and has a turnover of more than $12 million, has built up a loyal and diversified clientele, including some of the largest contractors in the electrical industry. The company is well known to Clayens NP as it has been a privileged partner for several years.

Clayens NP is one of the leading European players in the transformation of advanced polymers, composites and precision metal parts. The Group masters most of the materials and associated transformation processes and is positioned on a large number of growth markets, such as electrification, energy transition, health and mobility.

Backed since 2019 by Siparex, Clayens NP has experienced strong growth and anticipates sales of €380m for the current financial year compared to €273m in 2019.

This strategic acquisition allows Clayens NP to complete its North American industrial network, which now covers the majority of technologies associated with the transformation of thermoplastic and thermoset polymers. Plasco's shareholder, José Octavio Lopez, retains a significant share of the capital. He is counting on Clayens NP's networks to accelerate the development of this site.

In parallel with this operation, Clayens NP recently inaugurated a new industrial site in Mexico, close to its Torreon plant, to support the strong growth in volumes in this region, particularly in the Electrical and Healthcare sectors. Thanks to these structural changes, the Group now has a complete industrial facility in Mexico to better serve its customers.

Eric Pisani, CEO of Clayens NP, said: "We are delighted to welcome the Plasco team, led by Miriam Ramirez, to the Clayens Group. Their professionalism and expertise, particularly in the compression processing of thermoset materials, will enable us to respond quickly to the growing needs of our customers in the region.
